* Medications that can help relieve pain and these include acetaminophen (Tylenol and others), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin and others) or naproxen (Aleve and others). Some studies have also shown that certain antidepressants may decrease the pain associated with spinal stenosis. When the pain is severe, doctors may prescribe medicines containing narcotic consumption over a short period.

* Exercise and physiotherapy, with the best alternative exercises to strengthen abdominal and back muscles, those to gain strength and endurance, as well as for keeping the flexibility and stability of the spine.

* Injections of steroids or inject cortisone into the space around the spinal cord to help reduce inflammation and swelling.

* Alternative therapies such as acupuncture and chiropractic manipulation, which might relieve the pain of spinal stenosis.

* Losing weight, for maintaining a healthy weight can reduce stress on arthritic joints and decrease pain.

Surgery is an alternative when traditional measures are ineffective or the patient has complications such as severe weakness or loss of bladder control or bowel.

Could be Spinal Stenosis!" width="200" align="left" />When back pain is constant or slowly gets worse, the cause could be spinal stenosis, says the January issue of the “Mayo Clinic Health Letter”.

Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of one or more areas of the spine. There are different types of problems that can decrease the space inside the spinal canal, but most are related to age.

One cause is osteoarthritis, which results from wear of the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones in joints. Osteoarthritis in the spine may narrow the space between the vertebrae and forming bony growths or bulging disc cause. The bony surfaces may rub together, resulting in pain and inflammation.

The degeneration of the discs is another common cause of spinal stenosis. With age, the padding between the vertebrae is flattened and protrudes. The outer covering of the disc could end up tearing, allowing the jelly-like substance in the center of the disc bulge and press the spinal cord and nerve roots. The result can be a pain that starts in the buttocks and radiates down the leg.

The diagnosis is established by measuring blood glucose. If levels are below 54 mg/dL makes the diagnosis of hypoglycemia.

If you suspect a tumor in the pancreas, the patient should be monitored in the hospital, which often measure blood glucose levels. If it drops too low, also measured insulin levels. If insulin levels are elevated, you should look for a tumor in the pancreas and, if found, remove it surgically.

Exercise and diet

Exercise lowers glucose levels but usually does not produce hypoglycemia in healthy people. If symptoms of hypoglycemia during exercise, take carbohydrate or slowly absorbed complex (pasta, rice, pulses) before starting work, during the exercise can take simple carbohydrates such as glucose or sugar.

When diagnosed reactive hypoglycemia is the most important dietary change. This should be rich in complex carbohydrates (potatoes, rice, pasta, vegetables) and food must be distributed over several small meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks mid-morning, mid afternoon and before bedtime) to avoid stimulation excessive fluctuations in pancreatic secretion of insulin.

How is hypoglycemia?

Reactive hypoglycemia is treated with dietary modifications have been described previously. If you find a tumor in the pancreas must be removed with surgery. If the patient can not be operated symptoms can be controlled with a substance called octreotide.

When hypoglycemia is caused by failure of the pituitary or adrenal glands, hormonal medication should be given to make up for the secretion of these glands.

Hypoglycemia can produce some of the following symptoms:

- Paleness

- Tremors

- Sweating

- Feeling of weakness

- Palpitations

- Hunger

- Agitation

- Difficulty concentrating

- Irritability

- Fatigue

- Blurred vision

- Unexplained behavioral changes

- Transient loss of consciousness

- Seizures

- Eat.

These symptoms usually occur 3-4 hours after eating.

What can be done?

When hypoglycemia is suspected by the presence of several of the aforementioned symptoms that appear three or four hours after a meal and disappear in a few minutes after taking sugar levels should be measured in blood sugar. Many people believe and say they have hypoglycemia, but never have come to confirm that blood glucose is low at any time by measuring the blood sugar. In such cases medical advice should be sought and even have a device for measuring blood glucose in the home.

A person with hypoglycemia symptoms disappear in 10 minutes after taking sugar and the levels of glucose in the blood are below 45 mg/dl (2.5 mmol/l), must be examined in a hospital .

Hypoglycemia is a clinical condition characterized by decreased glucose (sugar) levels below 45-54 mg/dl (2.5-3 mmol/l). Usually associated other symptoms disappear within 10-15 minutes after taking sugar.

What causes hypoglycemia?

Insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas, which stimulates the body’s cells, especially liver to absorb glucose from the blood. Normally, blood glucose rises after a meal, the pancreas responds by secreting insulin which in turn lowers blood glucose.

Disproportionate production of insulin and other diseases can cause episodes of hypoglycemia also known as “low blood sugar.”

Episodes of hypoglycemia in persons without diabetes may be due to:

- Excess insulin in the blood

- Reactive Hypoglycemia

- Tumors of the pancreas producing insulin (usually benign)

- Injection of insulin or antidiabetic pills making accidental or intentional

- Other diseases

- Diseases of the adrenal glands (Addison’s disease)

- Failure of the pituitary gland

- Severe hepatic impairment

- Patients operated stomach

- Some types of cancer

- Fasting and/or malnutrition

- After the intake of alcohol.

Reactive hypoglycemia

Reactive hypoglycemia is probably the most common cause of hypoglycemia in persons without diabetes, but may be diagnosed more often than actually exists. This type of hypoglycemia occurs after heavy meals with lots of carbohydrates. In these cases we can detect elevated insulin several hours after the meal, when it should be normal. It is the most common cause of hypoglycemia in persons with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, in which excessive production of insulin causes the high blood persist for longer. There is evidence that reactive hypoglycemia may precede the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Acute pain at the base of the neck sometimes disappears without treatment.

In problems of limited duration on therapy is recommended (by the rehabilitation or physical therapist) and analgesics.

For problems of longer duration (eg three or more months) is the following treatment options:

- Physical therapy and chiropractic

- Intensive muscle training

- Rehabilitation treatment. What medication do you recommend?

Medications

Drugs used for moderate muscle pain include NSAIDs. These are generally effective in those who can tolerate them. However, they can cause side effects in people with a history of gastric problems and/or asthma. Consult your doctor if you think this happens to you.

Exercise

People with weak neck muscles are more prone to neck problems and in such cases an exercise program to strengthen it’s a good idea.

Prognosis

It depends on the underlying cause. The prognosis is generally good if the patient remains active and obtains the correct treatment without delay.

Neck pain (cervical) ranges from mild discomfort to intense burning pain.

The neck pain may be due to an injury to a muscle or mechanical problem, a pinched nerve caused by the protrusion of one of the discs are located between the vertebrae or due to a cervicoarthrosis.

If pain is severe, sudden and severe-acute neck pain is called, facet syndrome, muscular rheumatism or simply acute neck pain. If the pain lasts more than three months, is called “chronic neck pain.” Neck pain is very common box occurs more often in women than in men.

Most people will experience neck pain at some point in their lives. What causes neck pain?

Some causes include:

- Trauma or injury

- Diseases of the cervical spine (herniated disc, cervical arthritis, spondylitis, etc.).

- Stress and worrying

- Falling asleep in an awkward position

- Prolonged use of the computer.

There are several theories about why so many people suffer from neck pain, but are not scientifically proven. In most cases, you can not find a specific cause of pain.

However, in some cases it is possible to make an accurate diagnosis. The underlying problem may be a slipped disc, brittle bones (osteoporosis), deformity of the natural curve of the spine (scoliosis) and more rarely, structural damage caused by tumors or infections.

Finally, traffic accidents including the “whiplash” can cause acute or chronic neck pain, sometimes requiring several months to heal.

The aim of physiotherapy is to begin to move the foot in one or two days. After starting the foot and ankle mobilization, rehabilitation will aim to restore stability to the ligaments.
In later stages of the recovery period will be used more sophisticated training methods, such as running in a zigzag or figure eight, among others.

Athletes who do not follow the correct recovery exercises complain of instability of the ankle, it is because the ligaments are stretched and prevented with patience and rehabilitation. It is important that the athlete is focused on recovering 100% of your sport, rather than fear a new injury as a result of inadequate rehabilitation.
